인기가 떨어지면, 이름을 바꾼당. 당당히

 

 

인기가 떨어지면...

The conservative party, known for the past 15 years as the Grand National Party, renamed itself as the New World Party after leaders hired an advertising consultant to sift through more than 9,000 name suggestions sent in by party members and the public.

The party as well as the leading opposition party, which was recently renamed the Democratic Unity Party, earlier this week made high-profile appointments of political outsiders to lead committees to nominate their candidates for the April general election.

보수 정당인 한나라는 새누리로, 그 반대 정당은 민통당으로 이름을 바꿨다.

 

The renaming gambit has become a common one for South Korea's ruling parties.
It was once a tactic used to signal that a new major politician had taken control.

(한국에서) 정당의 이름을 바꾸는 전략은 흔하다.
막강한 새 정치가가(정당이) control을 하겠다는 전략으로 쓰이는데,

But over the past decade, it has been used by parties that have become unpopular
as an attempt to shed some connections to the past.

지난 10년 넘게를, (한국에서는)
정당의 인기가 떨어진다 싶으면 (그 정당의) 과거와의 단절을 꾀하려고 정당의 이름을 바꿨다.

 

 

미국의 대표정당인 민주당, 공화당은 아마도 150년 이상을 그이름 그대로 쓰고 있는 듯 싶다.

갸들은, 과거와의 관련이 하나도 무섭지 않은개벼.

 

솔직히, 이름 바꿨다고 뭣 좀 달라질꺼라는 기대 안하지만,

고쳤다는 이름들도 참 시덥잖아서 더 정이 안간다.
